"One of the most common questions we get from people in West Marin is why our helicopter is nearby. Most people automatically assume there is some sort of crazy police activity that puts them in danger, but the reality is that our helicopter is out there 2-3 times a week to conduct rescue operations like this. We will also transport patients who need to get to hospitals faster than a ground ambulance would be able to get them there (Mt. Tam to John Muir Trauma center in Walnut Creek is 10-15 minute flight vs up to 2 hours via ambulance). Our helicopter is rated as full ALS (advanced life support) capable and is always staffed with a paramedic. It's a great resource for the people of West Marin, if they ever need it." - via CHP
