We were at North Beach in Point Reyes today with a medium size but solid swell in the water and a very strong current. Two young children were playing in the shore pound getting knocked down by waves. One big surge could have easily taken them out into the rip.

My wife ran down and told the parents how dangerous this was and that a girl died on Thanksgiving in the surf in Point Reyes.

They listened and got their kids away from the water.

There are no lifeguards. Do not go near the surf on the ocean side. Do not be afraid to tell people to get away from the surf. It will save lives.
