Via CHPMarin Facebook page: "This morning at about 1AM we received a call of a vehicle in the submerged in water on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Inverness. The call came in from a citizen who had picked up the driver and driven them home. When our officer arrived on scene and found the nearly completely submerged vehicle, we determined it would be safer for everyone to recover the vehicle during daylight.

This morning, we called the total experts at Diego Truck Repair and they came out with all the needed equipment...swim trunks and a huge truck and were able to recover the vehicle."

Spotted late yesterday afternoon in Tomales Bay by a local photographer. It came up for about a minute, splashed around then disappeared. I talked to Scott Anderson and Dave Press about it, and they were both stumped. Great whites don't normally get this far up the bay, but the fins were too pointy for a juvenile humpback whale. I sent to the Academy of Sciences, hopefully they'll have more info. We're staying out of the water until further confirmation...

"A person who was collecting mussels over the weekend at Dillon Beach has been hospitalized for shellfish poisoning, according to the Marin County Public Health Department. The victim — who county officials wouldn’t identify — consumed mussels harvested Sunday in Dillon Beach and was hospitalized after suffering from neurological symptoms. Public Health Officer Dr. Matthew Willis said the county’s public health staff was notified of the illness Tuesday. “The person is getting better,” Willis said. “Fortunately, the clinician was aware of the elevated (poison) levels in locally sport-harvested shellfish and made a timely diagnosis.” FULL STORY: http://www.marinij.com/health/

Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and department. "A Marin County Sheriff’s deputy responding to a call near Point Reyes Station died early Thursday when he lost control of his patrol car and careened into a tree, authorities said. A sheriff’s department spokesman said the officer was responding to a call shortly after midnight of a crash on Highway 1 just north of Point Reyes Station. As he neared the accident scene, his vehicle went out of control as he entered a left curve in the roadway. Emergency personnel from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, CHP, and Marin County Fire responded to the scene and closed Highway 1. Fire crews worked to extract the deputy from the vehicle and an air ambulance transport the injured officer to a local trauma center." FULL STORY: http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.c

"At approximately 5:10 pm firefighters from Inverness FIRE Department and Marin County Fire Department responded to assist a male who was having a reported cardiac emergency. While enroute to the patients location, an air ambulance was requested to respond. Unfortunately, the closest one was 55 minutes away. Due to the extended ETA of the air ambulance , a quick thinking Battalion Chief immediately requested a CHP helicopter to respond. H-30 responded with a 25 minute ETA to the landing zone. When firefighters arrived on scene with the patient, they determined that immediate advance life saving measures were needed to save his life. Due to the quick action of the Marin County Paramedics on scene, they saved his life. The patient was driven with lights and sirens to the waiting CHP Helicopter H-30 where he was in turn transported by a CHP Officer/Pilot and a CHP Officer/Paramedic to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The male patient is currently being treated at the hospital. This patient is alive due to public service agencies working together." FULL POST: https://www.facebook.com/CHPGo
