The WMF Facebook Feed
The West Marin Feed gained traction as a Facebook page and many of the local followers still find it there. Times have changed and Twitter has taken over as a better news medium, but WMF still posts on Facebook at least two or three times a week.

The best part about Facebook (if there is one) is that there is a lot of really good information that people are able to add to stories in the comments. Unfortunately, you have to go to the Facebook post itself to see these comments, they cannot be imported onto this feed.

From the bird list. Didn't realize we had black vultures too. "Today at 11:20 AM while in Point Reyes Station we observed a black vulture being harassed by a red-shouldered hawk while in a kettle with several turkey vultures. It circled for a minute or so before peeling off to the south." The difference: https://centerofthewest.org/20...

The Point Reyes National Seashore announced this weekend that the new Point Reyes lighthouse restoration will include a Shake Shack restaurant. In an effort to expand revenue streams for the park and provide more food options for visitors, the park cut a deal with the extremely popular fast food company after months of negotiations. The location will be down at the point right next to the lighthouse and will become the crown jewel of the Shake Shack westward expansion.

"We couldn't be more pleased," announced a park spokesperson, "the lighthouse is the most visited spot in the park and now we've teamed up with one of the most popular food establishments in the country. Imagine how incredible it will be to hike down the stairs to our newly renovated lighthouse and be able to enjoy an amazing chocolate shake and a tasty hamburger with one of the greatest views in the world."

The menu at the Shake Shack will be very similar to other locations around the country, including the newly opened location in Larkspur. Because of the uniqueness of this location, there will however be daily specials suited to the region like deep fried oysters, organic elephant seal shakes and free range elk burgers, all locally sourced. "We're still working out the details," the park spokesperson said, "but once we get it all sorted, it will be a big win win for everyone."

Access from parking lot to the observation deck and the Shake Shack will be ready by late May/early June.

Not to get ahead of ourselves, but early weather models show the chance of another "atmospheric river" event late next week (April 5/6). So start thinking about prepping now. Clean the gutters (again). Sign up for Nixle alerts. Get some food and candles stored away. Just in case.

The recent car fire in Inverness on Ottinger's Hill on SFD was not an accident it turns out. If you are having suicidal thoughts, there is always someone willing to talk at 1-800-273-8255.

"After talking with the driver, however, deputies learned he was recently unemployed and "trying to navigate a rough patch in his life. His vehicle catching fire was no accident, but rather an attempt to take his own life," deputies said.

This happened a week ago Inverness. "A bobcat just climbed up to our neighborhood osprey nest (they come every year to the same spot) and killed the female who has been sitting on the nest for the last couple of weeks. Heartbreaking. Honestly, I love bobcats, but I also love our ospreys and was looking forward to the new brood." Apparently it was the female osprey in the nest while the male was gone. The bobcat snuck up on her. The water on Levee Rd. has subsided but the 'road closed' signs are still there and apparently the CHP is asking people not to drive on the rode until DPW has a chance to clear off the debris from the flood. Apparently driving over it now with the debris damages the road. I heard that CHP had stopped some folks who drove through and asked them not too.

This is an incredible story from West Marin resident William Barrett that happened on Lucas Valley Rd. on Monday night. Drive safe everyone. Thank you to all the emergency crews in West Marin who keep us safe. "Rainy night. Dark country roads. Overturned car in a rapidly rising creek. Got there just before all the emergency crews. Me and my little flashlight looking for anyone in the car. The door on the downside, in the water, was open and I was dreading seeing a body further down the creek. Luckily (?) the lone occupant was caught up in their seat belt and still in the car but unable to get out. Heroes arrived and I left. Whew." MORE HERE: https://www.facebook.com/willi...

From West Marin Share: "If you or someone you know "scored" a stainless steel stand for a table top last week, on the sidewalk by the old Creamery building - BRING IT BACK! It wasn't for "free" - it was CLAM's new table stand for our new table, and we took it out to the sidewalk to CLEAN IT. Can you imagine all the work that went into finding the right table, getting it from over the hill, cleaning it up - so that we might have a nice office to receive visitors? And doing this in the midst of all our other work - and then, when we're ready to put it all together....the stand is gone? Literally, disappeared? Our hearts dropped to the floor. No shame or guilt - we all put things out for free here in West Marin. But this wasn't that. Please drop it back by the CLAM office ASAP. We'll give you a free ceramic CLAM chowder bowl and spoon for your effort. Thank you! - Kim"
