The WMF Facebook Feed
The West Marin Feed gained traction as a Facebook page and many of the local followers still find it there. Times have changed and Twitter has taken over as a better news medium, but WMF still posts on Facebook at least two or three times a week.

The best part about Facebook (if there is one) is that there is a lot of really good information that people are able to add to stories in the comments. Unfortunately, you have to go to the Facebook post itself to see these comments, they cannot be imported onto this feed.

"Greenbridge Gas & Auto, the only gas station along Highway 1 from Bolinas to Bodega Bay, is changing ownership next month. Redwood Oil, a California company that owns 23 stations from Cotati to the Oregon border, has purchased the company and the property, which includes a nearly 6,000-square-foot building that houses four businesses and three residential units. Kentfield resident and president of Redwood Oil Julie Van Alyea said residents of Point Reyes Station can expect "business as usual." There are no plans to change rental agreements for any of the tenants and the only changes planned for the gas station are a number of minor upgrades. The station's three current employees will all keep their jobs." FULL STORY: https://www.ptreyeslight.com/a...

"A collision with a ship is likely to blame for the death of a blue whale that washed up on a Point Reyes beach Monday afternoon. The whale was first spotted Saturday near the Farallon Islands by a whale watching tour group. Pictures showed the blue whale stomach extremely bloated as seagulls scavenged the animal's remains. Two days later, the carcass washed up south of Limantour Beach, where scientists were able to examine the 62-foot juvenile female. They found the blue whale had a severed spine and bruising to its ribs and jaw. The Marine Mammal Center said injuries of those kind were likely caused by a ship collision."

Spotted late yesterday afternoon in Tomales Bay by a local photographer. It came up for about a minute, splashed around then disappeared. I talked to Scott Anderson and Dave Press about it, and they were both stumped. Great whites don't normally get this far up the bay, but the fins were too pointy for a juvenile humpback whale. I sent to the Academy of Sciences, hopefully they'll have more info. We're staying out of the water until further confirmation...
