The West Marin Feed gained traction as a Facebook page and many of the local followers still find it there. Times have changed and Twitter has taken over as a better news medium, but WMF still posts on Facebook at least two or three times a week.

The best part about Facebook (if there is one) is that there is a lot of really good information that people are able to add to stories in the comments. Unfortunately, you have to go to the Facebook post itself to see these comments, they cannot be imported onto this feed.

Our deepest condolences to his family, friends and department. "A Marin County Sheriff's deputy responding to a call near Point Reyes Station died early Thursday when he lost control of his patrol car and careened into a tree, authorities said. A sheriff's department spokesman said the officer was responding to a call shortly after midnight of a crash on Highway 1 just north of Point Reyes Station. As he neared the accident scene, his vehicle went out of control as he entered a left curve in the roadway. Emergency personnel from the Marin County Sheriff's Office, CHP, and Marin County Fire responded to the scene and closed Highway 1. Fire crews worked to extract the deputy from the vehicle and an air ambulance transport the injured officer to a local trauma center." FULL STORY: http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.c...

"At approximately 5:10 pm firefighters from Inverness FIRE Department and Marin County Fire Department responded to assist a male who was having a reported cardiac emergency. While enroute to the patients location, an air ambulance was requested to respond. Unfortunately, the closest one was 55 minutes away. Due to the extended ETA of the air ambulance , a quick thinking Battalion Chief immediately requested a CHP helicopter to respond. H-30 responded with a 25 minute ETA to the landing zone. When firefighters arrived on scene with the patient, they determined that immediate advance life saving measures were needed to save his life. Due to the quick action of the Marin County Paramedics on scene, they saved his life. The patient was driven with lights and sirens to the waiting CHP Helicopter H-30 where he was in turn transported by a CHP Officer/Pilot and a CHP Officer/Paramedic to the Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. The male patient is currently being treated at the hospital. This patient is alive due to public service agencies working together." FULL POST: https://www.facebook.com/CHPGo...

The Point Reyes Light sheds more light on the recent shark attack in the park. It was exploratory. "Just before the attack, there was a lull in the waves. In the calm, she played on her surfboard, kneeling on its face to practice balancing"”and then she slipped. The majority of her body was back on her board, out of the water, when she screamed and jerked her feet upwards, kicking away from biting teeth. The shark surfaced then, rising above the water to reveal an eye, a belly, a fin. Then it disappeared. Natalie Jones, an Oakland resident and former reporter for the Light, suffered bites to both of her feet from a juvenile or subadult"”likely 10 to 12 feet long"”white shark on Dec. 30 in the waters near Drakes Estero."
