The WMF Facebook Feed
The West Marin Feed gained traction as a Facebook page and many of the local followers still find it there. Times have changed and Twitter has taken over as a better news medium, but WMF still posts on Facebook at least two or three times a week.

The best part about Facebook (if there is one) is that there is a lot of really good information that people are able to add to stories in the comments. Unfortunately, you have to go to the Facebook post itself to see these comments, they cannot be imported onto this feed.

"We are trying to determine how many evacuees are are staying in homes in our communities (Inverness, Inverness Park, Olema, Point Reyes Station, Marshall (not including Marconi CC). We want to get information to them as we get it. We need help from homeowners that have housed evacuees in their homes with them or in rentals they own. This may be a fluid number, changing a lot, but the count we are looking for is how many heads are on your pillows at midnight! We do not want your name (may be unavoidable if in your email), your address, your guests' names or addresses. All we need is a, "Yes I have (# of evacuees), (# pets)." Please reply as soon as possible to: lynnaxelrod@hotmail.com(link sends e-mail). Thanks in advance. Lynn, Point Reyes (West Marin) Disaster Council"

"Ordered a HEPA air purifier with delivery expected Monday. My daughter was a month in to her viral cough when she was exposed for 24 hours to ash and smoke Sunday 11PM- Monday 11PM. She's in distress even after a week shut tight indoors pumped full of herbal tea and resting. Anyone have a spare, small HEPA air filter to loan for the next few days? Our cabin is tiny; any spare small HEPA will do. Something ugly this way blows. Just smelled it 3/4 up up here on Drakes View Drive." - Deirdre Nemmers

Via Debbie Daly - "Evacuation shelter update from the Dance Palace: I just spoke with Bonnie. They served over 200 people in the past two days with shelter, meals, clothing, etc, thanks to the wonderful help of many people in the community. Starting tonight, the shelter operation is in the process of being moved up to the Marconi center, where evacuees are being provided with comfortable rooms and their pets are allowed to stay with them. Dance Palace is serving dinner tonight and is staying open in case anyone else shows up tonight. Donations of food and supplies are no longer needed, however volunteer help will be needed at the Dance Palace tomorrow (Wed) to lend extra hands to a big cleanup operation and to help transport supplies up to Marconi and to return other borrowed supplies. Dance Palace have been working around the clock, sleeping at work etc. Staff from West Marin Community Services have also been instrumental. Thanks to these pillars of our community! Donations are in order and are appreciated at dancepalace.org and westmarincommunityservices.org."

From Marin County Sheriff: "Recently, we received a report of wildlife that was found dead of mysterious causes. The wildlife was located in different areas of open space throughout the county. Based on past experiences, we've found the cause is often illegal marijuana growers that use toxic chemicals that impact our environment. The Marin County Sheriff's Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) responded with an eradication mission along with our partners: State Park Rangers, National Park Rangers, and Fish & Wildlife. Together, we were successful in locating two different growing sites that contained fertilizers, pesticides, irrigation tubing, growing marijuana, and garbage. We confiscated the plants along with the harmful chemicals to limit additional environmental damage and wildlife deaths. We appreciate our partners and the positive difference we make together."
