The West Marin Feed gained traction as a Facebook page and many of the local followers still find it there. Times have changed and Twitter has taken over as a better news medium, but WMF still posts on Facebook at least two or three times a week.

The best part about Facebook (if there is one) is that there is a lot of really good information that people are able to add to stories in the comments. Unfortunately, you have to go to the Facebook post itself to see these comments, they cannot be imported onto this feed.

Thank you to emergency crews for this rescue yesterday. "At approximately 3:40 pm CHP H-30 responded to assist the Marin County Fire Department and the Sonoma County Sheriff Helicopter Henry 1 with an injured hiker at Alamere Falls in rural Marin County. H-30 was airborne and already patrolling Marin County and arrived overhead in 6 minutes. After a brief search of the area H-30 located the injured party at the top of the falls. H-30 landed and a CHP Officer/Paramedic made contact with hiker. After assessing the hiker it was determined that his 6 year old daughter was also injured. The family had been hiking when the daughter slipped and slid down the falls for approximately 15 feet. The father attempted to catch the daughter and also slid down the falls. With the assistance of citizens at the scene the father and daughter climbed back to the top of the falls. Due to the remote location and no cell service the wife/mother of the hiked approximately 1 hour to obtain a cell signal!
Due to multiple patients at the scene Sonoma County Henry 1 landed and transport the 6 year old daughter while CHP H-30 transported the father. All parties and were flown to Five Brooks in Marin County and transferred to a Marin County Fire Ambulance. All are expected to make a full recovery. Both rescue helicopters saved Marin County Fire personnel approximately 1 1/2 hours of hiking in to the falls and at least and additional 1 1/2 hour hike back to the trail head and Five Brooks." "I am looking for someone who lost some money that is now in my possession. It happened on Thanksgiving afternoon at the local bar where I had stopped after a hike with friends. A man named Lorenzo handed me a couple of bucks as I was queuing up some music on the juke box and asked me to out a certain band on. He disappeared before I realized he had mistakenly given me a hundred dollar bill. I would like to give it back to him but don't know how to find him. He has dark hair and a beard, is around 50-55, said he worked on a road crew and is a local. I'm from Sonoma County so I don't know many people in the area to ask. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Melinda Misuraca"

A downhill slide on Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, located at milepost 18.76 in Samuel P. Taylor State Park, was sustained during last winter's storms. Due to environmental regulations for fish activity in Lagunitas Creek, which bisects the park, the necessary regulatory agency permits were not issued in time to meet the work requirements this year. Permits will be sought in late April 2018 and repairs are expected to begin as early as May 2018.

In the meantime, the downhill slide within the park has been winterized to endure the rainy season, but requires the closure of one lane to maximize safety. For approximately the next three weeks, traffic flow on the single lane will be controlled with stop signs in both directions.

A temporary traffic signal will be installed in December and remain in place until early May. Traffic flow will be continually monitored and the signal's timing will be adjusted to minimize congestion. It is recommended that travelers seek alternative routes during commute hours as traffic delays are anticipated.

From Bob Raines, Superintendent of the Shore Unified School District, "On the morning of Monday, October 30, 2017, the SUSD buses did not run. Early that morning, and the evening prior, all of the district's bus drivers except one called in sick. As soon as the district learned this information, a phone message was sent to all parents via School Messenger letting them know that there would be no bus service. In addition, various other classified employees, including most food service employees, also called in sick. The district has no further information at this time. Although the district and the classified union currently are involved in contract negotiations, the district does not believe the events of today are related because a sick-out or strike would be illegal and a violation of the good faith negotiating principle, neither of which we would expect from our dedicated and hard working staff. We took all steps necessary to minimize the impact on students, including providing food service. We sincerely apologize to the students and their families who rely on bus service and were unable to attend school today as a result. We are in the process of securing substitute bus drivers to prevent this situation from occurring in the future. Thank you."
