The WMF Facebook Feed
The West Marin Feed gained traction as a Facebook page and many of the local followers still find it there. Times have changed and Twitter has taken over as a better news medium, but WMF still posts on Facebook at least two or three times a week.

The best part about Facebook (if there is one) is that there is a lot of really good information that people are able to add to stories in the comments. Unfortunately, you have to go to the Facebook post itself to see these comments, they cannot be imported onto this feed.

Tigger - the West Marin School cat has been missing since Tuesday night. He is easy to recognize as both his ears were removed to save his life from cancer. He is beloved by the staff and students of West Marin School where he has lived for many many years. If you see him please notify the school office, Point Reyes Animal Hospital (663-1533), or Planned Feralhood (663-8497)

The Point Reyes Farmer's Market kicks off tomorrow (Saturday, June 28th) and we've got some summer weather to go with it!
"After a cool start to summer this past week "” with cloudy skies and highs in the 70s through much of Marin and the Bay Area "” forecasters say we're due for the first warm wave of summer."

Timmy who? "West Marin's Colton Baldwin and Peter Gallagher combined on a no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Novato South in a District 3 Little League 9-10-year-old game at Hamman Field. It came about three hours after Lincecum's gem in a 4-0 win over the Padres at AT&T.

Answering the requests and concerns of many community members throughout West Marin, I will be adding a number of extra patrol deputies throughout the July 4th holiday weekend up and down our West Marin coast. This will include the usual holiday hotspots, Stinson Beach, downtown Bolinas and beach, Pt, Reyes Station all the way North to Dillon's Beach.
Do t get me wrong, I love a great holiday weekend just like the next person, but the beauty of our coast lands, parks, and communities draws people from all over like moths to a flame.
If the weather is warm we can expect heavy traffic on our small 2-lane roadways and sometimes believe it or not, people get a little thirsty which I've heard leads to some to have a few too many adult beverages...which is fine as long as your responsible but for some reason big holiday weekends like this tend to lead to poor choices and we (cop types) get called to help mediate the problem.
Exercising ZERO TOLERANCE that weekend to those who ruin it for everyone else I hope for a safe and fun weekend for all.
As always, my door is open to all, or if easier drop me an email at dpittman@marinsheriff.org of any concerns, thoughts or suggestions you may have to make this Fourth of July Holiday the best for everyone!
Best!
Sheriff Doug

Showing my support of KWMR and all the great folks who work there, I will be sacrificing myself at the KWMR Golf Fundraiser being held at the San Geronimo Golf Course today. Although not a great golfer I believe in supporting our local radio station and besides if you have ever seen my golf game you know I will single handedly add add great humor to today's event.

Anyone know what they're shooting just between Nicasio and the Reservoir? It's massive, whatever it is -- I saw that the stars were being given escorts by the highway patrol, and there are fake signs up ("Rabbit Rabbit") for extras to find the place they're supposed to go.

Any good water conservation ideas from West Mariners? The Citizen is looking for innovative, brilliant (make that entertaining,) ideas to publish for our possible adoption. My North Marin Water bill was cut 50% from last year on this last bill, just by paying attention and saving the dish washing water for the garden. Send ideas to Linda at West Marin Citizen.

County fire Battalion Chief Mike Giannini said fire crews had the blaze "10 percent" contained at 10:15 a.m. after having difficulty reaching the site a mile or so inside the park on the north side of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard.
"It's a long narrow fire," he said, adding fog prevented state aircraft from lending a hand. "We've got a lot of resources coming in," he added. "This will be a ground battle. It will be a long day."
